Welcome

(To go straight to posts click here)

A short note, hopefully the slightly redesigned site makes for easy usage. For those who have just come across or stumbled upon this site, it is to encourage communication between the community and the health profession, in this instance, your local pharmacist or doctor.

This site does not wish to replace the contact of having a face to face consultation with a health professional, whether it be your doctor, pharmacist, or physio (please see the disclaimer link which describes this in more detail). However, as practicing pharmacists, we notice people who are reluctant to seek help, and only do so when forced to due to a condition progressing or unable to work out the issue on their own. This website simply provides another point of contact to encourge communication with health professionals in your local community.

As pharmacists, our places of work are where anyone can come in from the street, without an appointment and without needing to purchase an item or have a script filled, and ask the pharmacist any health question they wish, or in some cases pick up the phone and call us when they find our number in the phonebook.

The pharmacist will offer what advice they can, and if needed they will advise you seek out the opinion of a doctor or other health professional, or ask you to physically come into the pharmacy to discuss the issue if required.

Much in the same way, this site provides an extention of this to allow you to ask a general question about a drug or health condition related topic, and we accept questions from any person from any country at no charge. We will provide what information is relevant, and recommend when you may need to refer your query in person to a health professional. This site does not seek to replace a face to face consultation with a health professional, the information provided is for educational purposes and to encourage you to seek out your local health professional for advice.

I would go as far as saying, before you send your request in by clicking the ‘Ask a Question’ tab, considering dropping into your local pharmacy or seeing your local doctor (or General Practitioner). Finding a trusted local pharmacist is a great resource for your healthcare, someone that can be a point of contact in addition to your G.P. and other persons you may encounter in maintaining your health.

In addition, there are two short articles in the sidebar to the left on two of the most common questions we receive in the pharmacy. If you would like to request a topic, please feel free to do so.
